To be able to travel to the country of Bulgaria, all non-EU nationals will need a passport, which is valid for a minimum period of six months after the date of departure. Visitors to Bulgaria are not required to produce a return ticket on arrival, but obviously this is advisable, where possible. All visitors are required to upon arrival, either A) Register at their hotel or wherever they are staying or B) If you are camping or staying with friends then make a visit to the nearest police station.
Visitors from the following countries will not require a to visit Bulgaria, if they are only resident for up to 90 days within each period of six months: Andorra, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, El Salvador, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Honduras, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Malta, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Mexico, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Korea, Romania, San Marino, Singapore, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UK, USA, Uruguay, the Vatican, Venezuela and SAR : China (Hong Kong, Makao).
For all other countries, it is advisable to check with your embassy prior to departure, to ensure you have the correct paperwork in place.
